The best vibe coding tools in 2026

Vibe coding is building software by describing it to an AI agent. These are the app builders and coding agents people use for it, what each is best for and what it costs.

Vibe coding is building software by describing what you want and letting an AI agent write the code. You check the result by using it, then ask for changes in plain language, rather than writing or editing the code yourself.

The tools below fall into two kinds. App builders take a description and give back a running, published app. Coding agents sit inside an editor and change a codebase you already have. Which one is right depends on whether you have a repository and how much of the code you want to read.

Buildra, which publishes this page, is on the list. Entries are in alphabetical order inside each group rather than ranked, because we have not tested these tools against each other on the same briefs. Every price and limit comes from the vendor's own pages; each entry links to a comparison that lists the sources and the date they were read.

App builders you describe to

You write what you want in a chat; the tool builds it, runs it and publishes it for you. Nothing to install and no repository to set up first, which is why this is where most people start. They differ most on how far the free plan goes, when you can take the code with you, and whether they build phone apps.

Coding agents in an editor

These work inside a codebase you already have: you describe a change, the agent edits the files, and you review the result as code. They are vibe coding for people who are comfortable with a repository, and they do not host your app for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is vibe coding?+
Vibe coding is building software by describing what you want in plain language and letting an AI agent write the code. You judge the result by running it and steer by asking for changes, instead of writing the code yourself. It suits people who know what they want to exist more than how to program it.
Is vibe coding free?+
Often, up to a limit. It depends on what the free plan has to do. Lovable, Bolt, Base44 and v0 all publish on their free plans, and Bolt's also lets you download the code — though its free sites go offline for the rest of the month once they hit the data limit. Replit's free plan publishes one app that expires. Anything cannot build without a paid plan, and Softgen offers a trial. Buildra's free tier includes the source download and the GitHub mirror, with a smaller monthly allowance than Lovable's. The table above gives each tool's paid starting price.
What is the best vibe coding tool for beginners?+
There is no single best, and this page does not rank. A beginner without a repository usually does better with an app builder from the first group: it builds, runs and publishes the app, so there is no setup before the first result. Coding agents assume you already have a codebase and a way to review changes to it. Start on a free plan, describe one small app, and see which tool's result you can steer.
Can vibe-coded apps go to production?+
Yes, with care. The app builders above publish what they build to a live address, and Buildra publishes to a buildra.page address, with a custom domain from Starter and the source downloadable on every plan. What does not change is that someone has to check the app before real users depend on it: how sign-in behaves, what happens with a wrong or empty entry, where data is stored, and any payment flow, which is an integration the built app contains and not something the builder guarantees. Having the source lets you, or a developer you hire, review it.
Can you vibe code a phone app?+
Anything and Buildra build phone apps and send the build toward the stores for you — Anything to TestFlight and Google Play's internal testing track on its paid plans, Buildra to App Store Connect and Google Play on a paid plan, from your own developer accounts; with both, the final store review is yours. Bolt builds them through Expo and Replit documents the whole path to the App Store, with the upload and submission in your hands. Lovable and v0 build web apps; Lovable's own FAQ reaches the stores only by wrapping the web app in a third-party tool.
