Does v0 only generate UI components?
No. Vercel's FAQ answers it in one line — “v0 handles everything from simple components to full-stack apps with authentication, databases, and external API integrations” — and the docs behind that line are specific. Backend work is described as creating “backend endpoints using Next.js App Router conventions”. Databases arrive as “one-click database integrations with popular providers, including Upstash, Neon, Supabase, and Vercel Blob”, which means v0 wires up an account on someone else's platform rather than running a database itself. Previews “run your full application exactly as it would be in production”, and you can import an existing repository or start from a zip. The component-generator description belongs to a version of v0 that Vercel has moved on from.
Where does the code live, in v0 or in Buildra?
Both put code in GitHub, and the difference is in how. v0's GitHub integration runs in both directions — its docs say plainly that “GitHub sync moves code between v0 and GitHub” — and it works the way a team already works: v0 cuts a working branch from your base branch, commits to it, and then “creates a pull request if the branch does not have one, or reuses its existing pull request”. Its FAQ explains why: “By design, v0 protects your main branch.” You can import a private repository, and a colleague on Cursor or Claude Code can push to the same repo and you pull. That is a genuinely good workflow and Buildra does not match it. Buildra mirrors every commit its agent makes out to a GitHub repository you own, and the source downloads as a .tar.gz on the free tier — but the mirror runs one direction only, so a push you make on GitHub does not come back into Buildra, and Buildra does not open branches or pull requests or run CI for you. A project can start from a repository you already have on GitHub. Work you want to continue in another editor continues there; it does not come back.
How does pricing compare between Buildra and v0?
v0 sells seats. Free is $0 with $5 of included credits and a cap of 7 messages a day. Premium is $20 a month with $20 of included credits, and v0's own pricing doc says it is being phased out for new users. Plus is $30 per user a month and Business is $100 per user a month, each with $30 of included credits per user; Enterprise is priced on request. Credits are a dollar balance drawn against tokens rather than a message count — “input tokens are measured based on what you send and output tokens are measured based on what v0 returns” — and unused monthly credits roll over once, then expire after 65 days. v0 publishes no annual rate at all. Buildra charges the account, not the chair: Free is 5 credits a day, up to 25 a month, across up to 3 projects, with the source download and the GitHub mirror included from the start; the paid plans run from Starter at $25 a month for 100 credits to Pro from $100 for 400, with a year costing ten months. For one person the two free plans are close and the paid ones are not far apart. For four people v0's bill multiplies and Buildra's does not — but four people who need shared projects and centralised billing are buying something Buildra does not sell.
Which one should a team buy?
v0, in most cases, and it is not close. Team collaboration starts on Plus, which adds shared projects, a shared credit pool and centralised billing on vercel.com. Business adds training opt-out by default. Enterprise adds SAML SSO, role-based access control and priority access, and Vercel holds a SOC 2 Type 2 attestation for Security, Confidentiality and Availability. Buildra has no roles, no SSO, no audit logs and no self-hosting, so a team that needs any of those should stop reading here and buy v0. Two places Buildra does offer something v0's pages do not document: the Buildra dashboard is in four languages — English, Arabic, Spanish and French — and Buildra builds phone apps and uploads them to App Store Connect and Google Play for you on a paid plan, from your own developer accounts. v0 has an iOS app for prompting from your phone, which is a different thing: a way to use v0, not a store submission for what you built.
